Melanoma Focus Helpline

Melanoma Focus set up the first national Melanoma Helpline in 2017 to support the needs of people with concerns or queries about melanoma – patients, carers and the public, which is particularly important during this challenging year. We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced Skin Cancer CNSs who have a breadth of knowledge including the new adjuvant treatments.

The Melanoma Helpline service currently operates during lunchtimes on weekdays and evenings on Sunday to Friday. The rota consists of seven Helpline Responders, so each person is on duty approximately 8-15 shifts a month, taking into account holiday cover for each other.  We are particularly looking for cover on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes.  Helpline training, professional support, written information and IT equipment will be provided. Subject to confirmation, pay will be £22 an hour.

Above all, you will be responsible for giving clients valuable information about melanoma, the available treatments, disease prevention and sun safety – and, of course, providing that all-important ‘listening ear’ for those who need it.  The Melanoma Helpline will offer information, support, counselling and signposting but not individual clinical advice.

If you are interested or know someone who potentially is, please find job description here. For more information and to apply contact Michelle Bridge at mbridge@melanomafocus.com.
